Netflix Finally Comes to Linux

Netflix just might run on every computer in the world – unless it’s running a standard Linux distro.  Though dedicated appliances like the Boxee Box run Netflix on Linux, the company refuses to release universal support to the Linux community at large.

We finally have a reasonable way to run Netflix natively on Linux using Wine.  No more choppy playback from Windows VMs on your penguin lovin’ PC.  Your Mythtv frontend can finally include Netflix in its arsenal of mind-numbing media madness.  This has been a long time coming.  Catch details in the links below or do a search for many more.

I have been using GV (Google Voice) on my home phone for a couple of years now at no cost.  I recently called “the man” at the phone company and told them to put their copper pairs back on a spool and take a hike.  Now I’m keeping %85 percent of my phone bill every month.  Hey – 85% is an “A” grade in Canadian schools (No “eh” reference intended).  The savings is great and the features are awesome if you can attain acceptable reliability. Longer UPS Life

A good UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is an important part of any reliable computer system, but they’re expensive.  When I found one of mine with four legs in the air one morning, I decided to give it a shot of Liquamycin instead of taking it to the slaughter-house.  Fixing the UPS seemed “greener” and I hoped I could make it better-than-new without giving too much money to the vet.
